to Re-Engage with Education
Jigsaw Family Support provide holistic, person-centred support to children, young people and families who need it the most. We specialise in supporting children and young people who are dis-engaged from Education, or not attending due to a number of reasons, such as Social, Emotional or Mental Health issues.
The Outreach Team of Family Support Workers deliver an individualised and needs-led approach for each child or young person, as well as working closely with significant family members and in collaboration with key school professionals and/ or other agencies.
Our role is to support children, young people and families who are struggling to access or engage with Education, working alongside them to:
We work with each child, young person and their family on an individual basis - both short term and long term, setting out on a journey together to achieve the identified goal. For some, this may be support to re-engage with their current school or placement, bespoke Alternative Provision whilst a new setting or placement is sourced or transition support in to a new school or placement. We additionally support children and young people who are in educational settings or placements and require outreach support in order to maintain their current arrangements.
Jigsaw Family Support was founded in 2016 by Stephen Whitehouse - a child workforce professional with a background in Children's Homes and Alternative Provision settings for over 20 years. With a wealth of experience of working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs, the natural progression was to provide an individualised, young-person-centred service to support with re-engagement with Education as well as providing much needed Family Support to those who need it the most.
The team has grown, with a range of Family Support Workers and a Service Co-ordinator from teaching, youth work, theraputic and social work backgrounds.
Each young person referred to the service is matched to the most appropriate Family Support Worker, based on individual need.
We pride ourselves on establishing and maintaining positive and trusting relationships with children, young people, parents/ carers and families.
Jigsaw Family Support also works in collaboration with other involved agencies - advocating for the child, young person and families, ensuring that their voices and views are considered.
Commissioners of Jigsaw Family Support are guaranteed a reliable, trustworthy service - focussed on the intended outcomes for each individual child or young person.
‘Our son had been out of school for 3 years having been bullied and unsupported in school. Traumatised by his experiences - he vowed he would never go back. Steve Whitehouse is the catalyst, who made our son’s return to education possible and enjoyable'
